From House Beautiful

Transform your home in an instant with some festive wall decorations this Christmas. Whether it's in your hallway, living room or bedroom, adding decorations to your wall can give your space some added wow factor.

Interior designer and TV presenter, Julia Kendell, talks us through three ways in which you can let your walls do the talking.

1) If you have plain walls, it's time to get stickering (in moderation, of course)! 'There are some really nice oversized stickers that you can use and just peel off,' says Julia. 'As long as your paint work is reasonably sound if you have plain walls, then you can get some really fabulous oversized stickers of antlers and snowflakes for example, which adds an instant touch of Christmas.'

2) Have you thought about your wall art? Decorate your walls with more seasonal artwork which will also add a stylish touch. 'I swap in my art for more wintery and Christmassy themes as well,' says Julia. 'I have back up art as it immediately changes the vibe of the room. I've also got accessories that only come out at Christmas time because I like to change the room seasonally, so it's about changing the mood.'

3) Forget about placing Christmas cards wherever you can find the space, instead, be creative and find ways to hang it on your hall – from hanging cards as a garland to buying festive card displays. 'With Christmas cards, use large open picture frames and string up ribbons within the frame with pegs,' Julia suggests. 'Peg cards on so they're neatly displayed on the wall. That way there's no need to have cards on windowsills and the edges of furniture.'
