It’s all well and good to tell people to save money on alcohol by going for happy hour. But many bars’ happy hours basically give the middle finger to anybody who works late. When happy hour ends at 7pm, at which time you’re still stealing surreptitious glances at your boss and wondering when it’ll be safe to sneak out of the office, you lose all hope in life. Here’s a bunch of places with reasonable happy hours that you won’t have to go on MC to enjoy.
Raffles Place
Prince of Wales, 51 Boat Quay
This scruffy backpacker bar looks out of place amongst the suits on Boat Quay, which is a pity as Happy Hour is a crazy 12 hours long every day, during which a few dollars get knocked off every alcoholic drink you order. Bottled beers go for as low as $9.
When? Daily 9am to 9pm
Molly Roffey’s, Esplanade Mall #01-13E
Typical Singaporean Irish pub located in an air conditioned shopping mall. During happy hour, housepour spirits go for a respectable $8.50, while a pint of not-very-Irish Tiger will set you back $12.50.
When? Mon to Thu 3-9pm
Hombre Cantina, 53 Boat Quay
You may not be able to make it in time for their official happy hour from 5-7pm, but that doesn’t mean you’re doomed to paying full price. Daily Specials are on until 9pm on weekdays and feature a different deal for each day of the week. Enjoy 1 for 1 San Miguels on Mondays, 1 for 1 margaritas on Wednesdays, $8 Meixcan beers and house wines on Thursdays and $5 tequila shots on Fridays when you buy a margarita or cocktail.

London, 55 Boat Quay
If you’ve ever found yourself longing for late night happy hour, head to London. This pub on Boat Quay celebrates reverse happy hour, which starts rather than ends at 9:30pm and continues all night long. Enjoy 10% off on draught beer, house pours, house wines and selected bottled beers.

Alley Bar, Peranakan Place, 180 Orchard Road
This long-time staple at Peranakan Place offers a laid back place to chill out and listen to the songstress of the evening. House pour liquors go for $6, bottled beers are 3 for $22, while draft beers go for $10.90 to $12. Martini of the night goes for $9.90.

This is one of Singapore’s most well-known bars and where locals like to take friends visiting from overseas. Before 9pm, enjoy drinks at discounted prices during Happy Hour. After 9pm, their famous Martini Specials get you 1 for 1 martinis.

Fatboy’s The Burger Bar, 187 Upper Thomson Road
Pints of Hoegaarden going at $10? YES PLEASE. This awesome place doesn’t just have an amazing selection of burgers, which you can even custom-build yourself, but it’s hard to beat $10 pints anywhere. Add to that the fact that the outlet closes at midnight and you have a perfect place to go to if you’re feeling like a late night pig-out.

Cafe Siem Reap by Indochine, 43 Lorong Mambong, Holland Village
Boasting a wide variety of Indochinese-styled dishes, the small restaurant also boasts a 1 for 1 offer on all draught/bottled beers and housepour wines all day. Yup. No more need to worry about making it in time for the last happy hour order. The place closes at 1am from Mon-Thurs and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays and the eve of public holidays.

The Cider Pit, 328 Joo Chiat Road #01-03
Known for their wonderful selection of over 50 imported craft beers and ciders, this popular watering hole in the east offers their 6 draught beers at $10 nett for a pint. If you’re looking for something off the beaten track in terms of drink selections, this is by far the place to go to.
When? All day
Lobby at 9, 9 Yuk Tong Avenue, Chun Tin Road
What was once an Old Town Coffee joint has now become a quaint little bar tucked away behind the whole row of eateries opposite Bukit Timah Shopping Centre and Beauty World. Apart from being one of the few places in Singapore serving Guinness on tap, their 3 other draught beers (Erdinger, Heineken and Kirin) are 1 for 1 almost the entire day, at $14++ a pint.
When? 11am – 1am (Mondays to Thursdays) and 11am – 9pm (Fridays to Sundays)
