1. SUKI-YA

SUKI-YA doesn’t have an extensive selection of food but it’s good enough for those who like their hot pot meals fuss-free and affordable altogether. This is an all-you-can-eat buffet that is famed for their paper-thin slices of chilled beef and pork. All of you whose alter ego is in sync with carnivores will be happy to know that you can have your meat and eat however much your stomach can expand.
I’ve been to SUKI-YA twice for dinner with my family and both times I couldn’t fathom how so many diners could eat stacks and stacks of meat without feeling sick - a table of 5 ordered 30 plates of meat while my family of 4 only had 9.
Anyway, you get to pick your soup bases, meats and an okay selection of vegetables from their vegetable bar. In case you’re curious, SUKI-YA offers eggs, ramen, udon and glass noodles, too. Their ice-cream’s pretty decent. I recommend you try the vanilla-flavoured ones.
They have many outlets peppered all over Singapore, so if you fancy a convenient shabu shabu place without getting severe heart palpitations, consider paying SUKI-YA a visit.

2. Ban Heng At HarbourFront Centre

All dim sum fans rejoice! Ban Heng probably offers the cheapest dim sum buffet you can find in Singapore. The variety of dim sum at Ban Heng isn’t shabby with close to 30 different types, ranging from steamed or deep-fried dim sum to other options like porridge, soup and desserts.
Usual suspects like prawn rolls, shrimp dumplings, yam puffs and custard buns can be found here. You might want to order as many dishes as you can each time you send an order in though. A review I chanced upon online mentioned considerably slow service when he visited.
To be eligible for the dim sum buffet, a minimum of 4 adults is required to dine at Ban Heng. Note that only the Harbourfront outlet offers a dim sum buffet!

Here’s an interesting buffet option that is unique in its own right. Lee’s Taiwanese offers an a la carte buffet with more than 20 dishes that you can choose from.
It would appeal to those who cannot get enough of famous Taiwanese offerings like bubble tea, milk tea and grass jelly, fried chicken chop, mee sua and braised pork rice.
Even though I try to eat healthily most of the time, this buffet is definitely one that I see myself going to one of these days, especially since I know I’m going to be very happy chugging bubble tea to my heart’s content without shelling out $4-ish for a cup at joints like Gong Cha or Koi.

4. The House of Steamboat

Here’s another steamboat option that doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket. You’ll be amazed how little they’re charging their diners - $17.90 nett per adult or $8.90 nett per child. Yes, with drinks thrown in.
I digress, but I feel so guilty now typing this because of the $6.90 llaollao froyo that I’d usually purchase if the queue isn't too long. I could have gone for a full-blown pig-out session if I’d given up on my froyo fix just 2.594 times!
Anyway, The House of Steamboat provides a decent selection of usual steamboat items that you may choose from on top of free flow fried items like man tou and fried chicken. Also, their broths do not contain MSG!
I reckon it is a place you may want to visit the next time you make merry with your friends instead of stressing over prep work and cleaning up.

Who doesn’t love good ol’ Thai food? Honestly, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t fancy Thai food. Suanthai Restaurant offers an a la carte Thai buffet with a menu that features 28 Thai dishes including traditional ones such as tomyum soup, green curry and chicken with basil leaves and egg plants.
This casual restaurant is family-friendly and its entire kitchen team comprises of native Thais with years of experience in Thai cuisine. Note that you can’t be selfish and venture here alone for their awesome buffet deal - a minimum of 2 is required.

6. COCA Steamboat Restaurant

Even though Thai steamboat hasn’t taken over Singapore by storm, unlike its cousin Mookata, it's a food option that exists for all of you out there who always lament about how Singapore’s food scene is “boring”.
Be prepared to experience a unique Thai-style steamboat at COCA starting with some of their in-house special appetizers like the tantalizing roast pork and cockle salad before cooking the fresh steamboat ingredients in the hot broth. Word has it that their flavourful pork balls, green spinach wanton noodles and home-made chili sauce are fantastic!
Also, what do you do with the remaining broth after you’re done cooking? COCA recommends that you turn it into a porridge topped with egg and spring onions. Nothing goes to waste here!

It is a common misconception that decent Japanese food has to be expensive. Irodori fares quite well despite its considerably pocket-friendly price. It is an a la carte, eat-all-you-can Japanese buffet that prides itself on using fresh ingredients and seafood sourced from New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
You do not only have access to unlimited makis and handrolls - you can eat your fill across options like Tempura (deep fried dishes), Yaki Mono (grilled dishes), fresh Hamachi Sashimi and Maguro Sushi (raw tuna sushi)!
You ought to visit Irodori if you love Japanese cuisine. I seriously think it makes a better experience than stacking up plates at Sushi Express or Sakae. You simply get greater variety and better quality here.

Though technically not a meal in entirety, sweet treats still deserve a mention in my article since I’ve always been one who would be more than happy to stuff myself with desserts and forego some of my appetisers and main course.
The sheer variety of gelato, ice-cream flavours, cakes, toppings, waffles, pastries and other sugar-laden offerings here is set to plaster a smile on any dessert junkie. Just to psyche you up a bit, there are over 50 ice-cream flavours for you to experiment with!
The Swensen’s Ice Cream & Dessert Buffet is available exclusively at their ION Orchard Outlet. It is especially popular with children and should come as no surprise that you have children hosting birthday parties there.
