| The investment seeks a high level of current interest income exempt from federal and California income taxes, consistent with preservation of capital. The fund invests substantially all of its assets in municipal bonds that pay interest that is exempt from regular federal and California personal income tax. It invests at least 80% of its net assets in investment grade municipal bonds rated BBB-/Baa3 or higher at the time of purchase.
