The investment seeks current income. The fund invests normally at least 80% of assets in bonds, which include a variety of debt securities including corporate bonds and notes, government securities, taxable municipal obligations and securities backed by mortgages or other assets and Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities. The dollar-weighted average maturity is expected to be between three and ten years. The fund may invest at least 70% of assets in U.S. government securities or securities rated in the three highest investment-grade categories. It may invest up to 25% of assets in straight-debt securities of foreign issuers? payable in U. S. dollars.
