| The investment seeks a high level of current income exempt from federal income tax and New York State and New York City personal income taxes. The fund invests mainly in New York Tax Exempt bonds with average maturity generally expected to be between 3 and 20 years. Normally at least 90% of income distributions may be exempt from the taxes. The fund only invests in New York Tax Exempt bonds which are of investment grade quality.
