As of May 31, 2013, it operated approximately 840 department stores under the names of Macy's and Bloomingdale's in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico, as well as the macys.com and bloomingdales.com Websites; and 12 Bloomingdale's Outlet stores. The company was formerly known as Federated Department Stores, Inc. and changed its name to Macy’s, Inc. in June 2007. Macy’s, Inc. was founded in 1830 and is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.
