The company’s pawn stores engage in lending money on the collateral of pledged personal property, such as jewelry, electronic equipment, household appliances, tools, sporting goods, and musical instruments; retailing of previously owned merchandise acquired through pawn forfeitures and purchases directly from the general public; and providing short-term consumer loans and credit services. It also melts scrap jewelry and sells gold, silver, and diamonds in commodity markets. In addition, the company operates consumer loan stores that provide consumer financial services products, including credit services, consumer loans, check cashing, money orders, and money transfers. As of March 31, 2013, it had 559 stores in Mexico and 277 stores in the United States. The company was founded in 1988 and is based in Arlington, Texas.
