Vt.'s Green Mountain Coffee to seek name change

Vt.'s Green Mountain Coffee to ask shareholders to change name to Keurig Green Mountain Inc.

WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) -- Vermont's Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc., is planning to ask its shareholders to change the company's name to Keurig Green Mountain Inc.

CEO Brian Kelley says he expects shareholders to approve the name change at the company's annual meeting in March.

Kelley says officials have been thinking about the name change for a while because so much of the company's business is driven by the Keurig single-cup system.

Kelley tells the Burlington Free Press (http://bfpne.ws/1lJua5v ) consumers won't notice any difference as a result of the name change.

The Waterbury company has grown to annual sales in excess of $4 billion largely on the success of its K-Cup brewing system, invented by Keurig, which brews coffee quickly in single-serving portions.
