Toa Payoh has one of world's most amazing playgrounds

By Romesh Navaratnarajah: Toa Payoh playground (pictured), one of the oldest playgrounds in Singapore, has been named one of the world's most amazing playgrounds, according to a New York-based culture blog.

The blog post on Flavorwire.com titled 15 Amazing Playgrounds from All Over the World, also featured The Forest of Cherry Blossoms located at Moerenuma Park in Hokkaido, Japan and The Blue Whale in Plikta Park in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Built by the Housing and Development Board (HDB), the dragon-shaped playground is sited in Toa Payoh Lorong 6.

It was designed in 1979 by HDB's in-house designer Khor Ean Ghee, who drew inspiration from the mythological dragon, seen as a symbol of good luck for the Chinese.  Related Stories: HDB issues S$500m fixed rate notes
