SkyWest names exec as president of parent company
Regional airline holding company SkyWest promotes executive to president
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- SkyWest has named the president of its namesake airline as president of the carrier's parent company.
The holding company that owns regional airlines said that Russell "Chip" Childs will oversee all activities of the company and its operating airlines, SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet. He has been president and chief operating officer at SkyWest Airlines since 2007.
Michael Thompson, the airline's vice president of market development, was named its chief operating officer.
Bradford Rich was named to the new position of chief commercial officer at the parent company, and SkyWest Airlines vice president Wade Steel was promoted to executive vice president of the parent. Jerry Atkin will remain chairman and CEO of the holding company.
SkyWest Inc. and ExpressJet operate regional flights for bigger airlines including United, Delta, American and US Airways. The shares rose 32 cents, or 2.7 percent, to $12.14 midday trading.
