McCrary retiring as Alabama Power CEO

McCrary retiring from Alabama Power; Crosswhite named new CEO

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama Power CEO Charles McCrary is retiring after 12 years at the helm of the company.

Mark A. Crosswhite, 51, will become Alabama Power's new president and CEO on March 1.

Crosswhite is returning to Alabama Power after serving as chief operating officer of Southern Company, the parent company of Alabama Power.

The Decatur native had also previously served as Alabama Power's senior vice president and counsel. Before joining Southern Company, he was a partner in the Birmingham law firm of Balch & Bingham.

Crosswhite says it is honor to rejoin the ranks of Alabama Power employees.

McCrary will remain chairman of the board of directors of Alabama Power until May 1, when Crosswhite is expected to take over that role.
