The British and French stock markets nudged higher in opening deals on Monday, but Frankfurt was shut for Christmas Eve.
London's FTSE 100 index of top companies gained a marginal 0.08 percent to 5,944.60 points and in Paris the CAC 40 added 0.04 percent to 3,662.93. Both markets are due to close early ahead of the festive break.
Before the weekend, Frankfurt's DAX 30 fell 0.47 percent on Friday to finish at 7,636.23 points.
All three markets will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, and will reopen for business on Thursday.
