Intesa says possible tie-up with Generali is just "case study"
MILAN (Reuters) - Intesa Sanpaolo (ISP.MI) said on Friday that possible industrial combinations with insurer Generali (GASI.MI) were still merely the subject of "a case study".
On Thursday the lender denied it was preparing an all-share offer for Generali after shares in the Italian insurer rose in response to speculation that a bid was on its way.
Intesa said in Friday's statement the study was part of analyses the bank regularly carried out on growth options for the group, "both internal and external".
