In light of the fasting month of Ramadan, Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim country, is seeking to block more websites that are deemed sinful. Recently the Indonesian government stepped up its effort to block online gambling websites, now its attention turns to the pornographic websites. The minister of communication and technology, Tifatul Sembiring, said on Wednesday as quoted by the Times of India:
We will block more porn sites during Ramadan, though that doesn't mean that we will allow such sites to operate during the rest of the year.
In February, the Jakarta Post, stated that the Indonesian government had already blocked almost one million pornographic websites. Recently, Tifatul identified that there are a total of two billion more pornographic websites to be blocked.
