Goodyear names ex-CIA deputy director to board

Tire company Goodyear names retired CIA deputy director Michael Morell to board of directors

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said Thursday that it named Michael Morell, a retired deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency, to its board of directors.

Morell, 55, joined the CIA in 1980. He was deputy director at the agency for over three years before retiring in August.

"He brings to our board outstanding leadership skills and a global perspective," said Goodyear CEO Richard Kramer.

Morell's election brings the size of Goodyear's board to 13 members, the tire company said.

Shares of Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear closed up 51 cents at $25.22 Thursday.
