Explosions, fire at fiberboard plant in Columbia Falls, Montana; all workers accounted for

KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) -- Authorities say all employees at a Columbia Falls, Montana, fiberboard plant are accounted for after reports of explosions and a fire.

Cindy Mullaney of the Flathead County Office of Emergency Services says all the workers at Plum Creek Timber Co. got out of the plant.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry tells the Flathead Beacon that few details are available about Tuesday afternoon's explosion.

The Daily Inter Lake reports fire departments were dispatched after 3 p.m.

Neighbor Dorothy Downen says two or three loud explosions shook her house. Flames and thick plumes of smoke are visible from the plant.

Plum Creek spokeswoman Kathy Budinick says company officials are unsure of the cause.
